Discovery Wildlife Park
momstown braved the cold on Thursday for a tour of The Discovery Wildlife Park near Innisfail.

The kids had alot of fun exploring the park, learning all about the animals & even having a chat with a porcupine. The baby monkey was a big hit - my camera failed to get a good picture however :(

We even got up close and personal with a few of the Zoo's smaller & fuzzier residents.

Join us for our next Busytown Field Trip when we explore the Children's Festival in Red Deer!

Under The Sea!

momstown Central Alberta ventured 'Under The Sea' on Thursday for our monthly theme party, and we had all sorts of fun adventures there!
We started off creating some under the sea scenes with stickers. The kids had a great time using their imaginations to create their own under sea worlds!

Then we crafted some fish & custom fishing poles. The kids had a great time 'fishing' with their new toys.

And of course, what's a party without snacks? The kids made their own, complete with gummy sharks & suntanning Teddy Grahams!

Join us next month for our Going Buggy Party - if you're not yet a momstown mama, register here for a free trial membership & join in the fun!

momstown gets messy...
in the park with the first edition of Picasso's In The Park!
momstown Central Alberta took to Rotary Park in Red Deer on Thursday and boy did we make a mess - the fun kind!!

Some chose to stick to painting the paper...

while others branched out into skin & whatever they could get their hands on!

Don't worry - we made sure we cleaned up before we left... and the sun came out just on time to follow up the artsy fun with a play in the playground!
Join us next month when we do it all over again... and for so many more fun things to do in the Central Alberta area!!

Happy Mother's Day!
momstown celebrated Mother's Day on Friday with a Potluck Dinner! It was supposed to be an outdoor picnic & hot dog roast - but mother nature had other plans for us, so we moved indoors. Ahhh - Alberta in the spring - you just never know!
We started off making some lovely picture frames for mom. Alex made this piece of art with no help from anyone (other than applying the glue for him) - I just love it! Definitely a keeper!
I forgot my camera, so you'll have to take my word for it when I say we had a really great dinner. Everyone brought something - and in the end we had quite a spread! See below for my recipe for Beef on a Bun - as requested!
After dinner we pulled out the parachute. The kids loved running underneath and popping popcorn (aka balls) on top. The highlight was definitely going for a ride on top of it while the mom's pulled it around in a circle. They all piled on at once - babies and big kids alike!
We'll be attempting another potluck picnic & hot dog roast in June for Father's Day - so if you haven't yet, register now for your trial membership and join the fun! If you're already a member - check out the message board today for your Mother's Day gift!
BBQ Beef
6lbs Chuck Roast (cheapest roast available, bones ok)
3 large Onions
1 small bottle ketchup
2 tbsp Vinegar
2 tbsp Salt
1 ½ cup water
1 full stalk celery
1 green pepper diced
3 tbsp BBQ Sauce
1 tsp Tabasco sauce
1 tsp pepper
Mix all ingredients in a large roaster
Add roast, mix and cover with ingredients
Cook until roast is tender (lower heat for longer time (325 - 350 for 5-6
hours)
When meat falls off the bone it's done
Remove bones and fat (looks like a sloppy joe)
Serve on hamburger buns
Feeds 10 - 15
Freezes well
