Junior Chef : Puppy Chow!

momstown Central Alberta was so excited to have Clifford the Big Red Dog at our momstown Central Alberta 5th birthday party, that we decided to make some puppy chow!!

mixing

So moms and their Children from the Red Deer area got tpgether to make this very simple recipe.
The recipe involves some measuring and pouring,
some mixing and the best part...
SHAKING!!
shaking and standing on the bench
Shaking as hard as he can

Here is the recipe
Puppy Chow:

1 cup chocolate chips
1/2 cup peanut butter (or use almond butter, sunflower butter etc)
9 cups rice cereal squares ("chex")
1 tsp. vanilla (optional)
1 1/2 cups powdered sugar

Combine the chocolate chip and peanut butter in a microwave-safe bowl and heat for about 1 minute, or until melted.
Add vanilla.
Place the cereal squares in a large container and pour in the chocolate mixture.
Stir gently until all the squares are coated.
Add the powdered sugar to the container and seal with a lid.
Shake gently until the sugar has coated all the squares
(alternately, place the mixture in a resealable bag, and shake to coat.)
This is a great job for kids
If desired, place in the fridge or freezer for a few minutes until chocolate hardens. Store in an airtight container.

This is a bit messy with the melted chocolate and peanut butter, thankfully we had Huggies wipes on hand to help clean up the sticky fingers!!
