How to induce Labour Naturally when you are Overdue

A week past my estimated due date, with an induction planned in 3 days, I asked for advice on what might work to bring about labour naturally so I could avoid an induction.
The Internet delivered A LOT of advice.

I asked what worked for other momstown mamas or what they have heard works.
I had so many great responses, that I have compiled a top 10 list here!
  1. Castor Oil - um YUCK!
  2. Reflexology or Acupuncture
  3. Raspberry Leaf Tea - I love this tea!
  4. Chiropractor
  5. Massage
  6. Sex - the LAST thing I was interested in, sorry hon
  7. Walking - did LOTS of this
  8. Squats or Walking Lunges
  9. Spicy Foods - to add to the heart burn?
  10. Scrubbing the Floor or Vacuuming - aka NESTING
  11. Bonus FRESH PINEAPPLE - has worked 3 our of 4 times for me * - not scientifically proven
Also with the health practitioners that were mentioned, (Chiropractors, Acupuncturists, Reflexologists, Massage Therapists) came with referrals from members have used and loved them.
I have a great list now!!

Other Awesome responses in no particular order
  • moving houses
  • jumping Jacks
  • Cartwheel
  • wait patiently
  • badminton
  • apricot juice
  • primrose oil pills
  • black kohosh tea
  • plan something you really want to do - you will miss it
  • belly dancing
  • KFC
  • bumpy car ride
  • skating
What ended up working for me? FEAR! ha ha I did not want to have the induction!!
I had an induction with my oldest and I wasn't interested in repeating it.
Our Baby #4 arrived 7 hours prior to our appointment at the hospital to start the induction process.

My husband would tell you it is because of all the pineapple he made me eat and all the raspberry tea I drank.  I also did a lot of cleaning on Sunday (the day my water broke on its own) getting ready for baby to arrive, I am sure that helped as well.

Thank you to everyone who offered their advice!
