Snowflake Paintings with Toddlers and Preschoolers

The momstown Monet program was a messy one this month in Central Alberta!

Using masking tape, paint and a dollar store canvas, we created our snowflake masterpieces using the resist method painting technique!

Our members and their kids met at Parkland Nurseries and Garden Centre just outside Red Deer for our event, which is an awesome space to get crafty in!

First we took our masking tape and created the snowflakes for the painting.
The toddlers had help from their moms with this part.

Then the fun began! Each artist (child) received their paint pallet with Blue Paint, White Paint, Purple Sparkle Paint and Blue Sparkle Paint, and they got to work on painting!

While we waited for our masterpieces to dry, we had to check out the fish at the garden centre!
They were a great distraction!

Here is a sampling of some of the finished paintings!
We will definitely be using this technique again with other themes throughout the year!
They turned out great and the kids think they are quite the little artists!!
